Love the lighting of the flightdeck!
And the thing looks like a beast, with its 'grinning' cargo modules....

My friend, your work should be used as concept to a film or TV show. It's awesome!

You've succeeded brilliantly, this is top notch work, informed and literate - a pleasure to see.

We would have to build something that could make getting to space cheaper first before we can do this.
My thought is, (And from what I've read that NASA has suggested) is that we build an elavator to space first

Yup Yup, and rockets are like trying to compare the efficiency of someone trying to throw something strait up as apposed to lifting with a pully

If you lean back and squint a little, it looks like a monster.

Peh, I can see why you wouldn't let that go. It's my opinion that people only think that because they don't understand how realistic things work, or something like that. . .

I agree with this, although it's a shame so many people who try to do this sometimes have little knowledge of what they're illustrating which compromises the art. D:

Wow, wow, wow. Absolutely fantastic. The hull plate details (the raised bits), are they done with geometry or displacement or bump maps?

Thanks you!
The hull plates are geometry. I made a smooth-shifted (slightly larger) version of the basic shape, and then sliced it up and extruded the plates back inward (so they would terminate inside the underlying hull shape). Some fixing was necessary to clean up troublesome areas. The plates on the Aries model were made in much the same way.

Thanks very much - I mad that as an exercise to sharpen up my modeling skills. Usually I do 3D stuff in a great rush, and then patch things together in 2D - but I wanted to do a more refined design fully in 3D and I had a small window of time (this was over a year ago)

You're Welcome ! Yes, indeed, it's hard not to want to do everything quickly. That's what I tried no to do when I made my "Future Soldier" pic !

Delicious detail. A very Orion III cockpit and very Discoveryesque RCS thrusters.
