Hi! I used layers of thick fabric as interfacing and put wire inside the armor to help hold the shape. Does that help you at all?

Nice, what are the materials you used? How long overall did this take?

The outer fabric is suede, and I used a lot of canvas and wire to make it sturdy/keep its shape. I worked on it on and off for maybe a few months? This was done a couple of years ago, so I don't remember the exact amount of time anymore. I've been actually toying with the idea of remaking it differently someday, but I don't know when that will happen.

Very well done, any tips you can offer? I need to make an Azula for a friend of mine.

Thanks! I would recommend using a stiffer fabric like canvas to line the armor pieces with instead of interfacing. I discovered that the interfacing even with layering it up was too flimsy and didn't sit right. I also used a little bit of wire on some of the pieces to help keep the shape.
I hope that helps some. Let me know if there's anything more you'd like to know.

No problem! I think the interfacing I used made the larger pieces not curve smoothly over the shoulders if that makes sense. I layered up the canvas a couple of times, and that seemed to do the trick.

Thanks! I used taffeta. I love how rich it looks and how it wrinkles less than fabrics like satin.

You're welcome! I stumbled across it after not liking the gold satin I had bought for the trim to another costume.
