I have this thing for drawing what I call dual fanart. Drawing two semi-related characters from different storylines and putting them in one picture.On the left is Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter from the Batman cartoon/comic. On the right, Hatter Madigan from the Looking Glass Wars books.
is only responsible for half this Hatter insanity.
I'd been meaning to draw a Madigan picture for a while. Darn that Ben Templesmith for drawing him EXACTLY as I pictured in my head. Now I have to change things argh. But a guy whose hat turns into a wheel of spinning blades is cool, no matter how you slice it (pun not intended). It's also adorable how he refers to hat shops as "armories."But enough of him. Jervis doesn't get enough love. He looks much better with colored brows than just straight-up black.
Ironically, I have never read either of the Alice books. Shame.

Haha I draw stupid dual fanart too... I don't ever put it anywhere though. In fact, I just did one with Jiro from Kikaider and Astro from Astroboy. Craziness I say!
Anyway, this looks excellent. Jervis looks awesomely cool (I don't recall every reading about him in the comic. Huh) with his scowl. I like the somewhat simplistic shading style you've given the piece as well, not too over the top, and you can still clearly see your lineart. Looks great.

It's the cat's pajamas (where am I from the 1940s?) It's basically a detective mystery. Each book has there own story. It's written by Warren Ellis(YAY!)
I remember one Batman episode where the Mad Hatter captured Batman and left him in a dream world where everything was perfect, but it ends with Bruce fighting Batman taking off his mask, and it turns out to be the mad Hatter
Also is it just me or did the mad Hatter became an Irkin invader from Invader Zim

I've only read 30 Days of Night by Templesmith, also the first issue of Hatter M. I shall have to look for that comic as well.

And Hatter Madigan has a backpack that does very Irkin things, based off the book. I was actually trying to make it look like the alien in Creature Tech.
