Two things: if you ever watched the old Space Giants show, do you have any ideas on which pony can be buds with Goldar and the rest?
Secondly, did you ever read the 'Monster Mash' fanfic in which Rainbow Dash becomes Ultramare?

Second question first, yeah I read that one. If you scroll down in the comments here you'll see a brief exchange between me and the author. It was my favorite part of that cycle.
First question second. I'm aware of Space Giants but have never watched it. Sadly the flow of Tokusasu to Region 1 DVD kinda trickled off over the past few years, and I haven't been to a con where I could pick up any fansubs. Honestly I have other series I'd love to check out before that one, but I would definitely be worth checking out.
Right now, my tally for tokusatsu series watched is: Ultraman (original 63 version) Ultra 7 (Seven Seven Seven!) Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot (MEH! (which is the sound robot makes, not what I think about it. I love it.), Iron King (some of the most wtf television I've ever watched) Super Robot Red Baron (all right, kinda dragged toward the end), Spectreman (Dr. Gori is one of the best villains ever, but visually the series is that unique brand of relentlessly depressing mid-seventies malaise/gritty. It's like Urban Cowboy with talking gorillas and an android from Andromeda.) and I'm currently working my way thru the original Ultra Q (Imagine if you will, the Twilight Zone, only with a lot more goofy rubber monsters)

Oh it is. It's funny too because several of the cast of Ultra Q reappear as members of the Science Patrol in Ultraman.
It came out this year on DVD. You can get it on Amazon.

Funnily enough, I did a fic that was sort of an Ultraman crossover, though Rainbow Dash was the one who got the titular role. Led to a number of amusing comments, of which my personal favorite was:
"The energy that Ultramare receives from Celestia's Sun diminishes rapidly in Equestria's atmosphere. The Warning Light begins to blink. If the Warning Light should stop, Ultramare will never rise again."

Ah! It's crazy, I'd read the other installments of that series but set aside the kaiju one for later and never got back to it. Bravo! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Frankly it was the best of the lot, as far as I'm concerned.
