One of my Calligraphy midterm projects. All our assignment was was to create one piece using a hand a certain time period, and then create another piece using a hand from another time period. I think I might be an overachiever, seeing that among the acceptable projects were bookmarks and placecards...Anyways, for my project, I wrote out William Butler Yeats' poem, "The Song of Wandering Aengus." I chose that poem because of the mysterious, romantic, and almost sensual feel of it. I did it in the Insular Minuscule hand with black Higgins ink. In case you were curious, the title was done with a size 1 nib, and the poem itself was done in a size 2 nib. Yeats' name was done in a size 3 nib, and I did the tree with Pelican 4001 brown ink. The leaves were done with a mixture of green Higgins ink and Pelican 4001 brown ink, as was the grass, only with a watered-down mixture.
Aaaand, there's an error. Can anyone find it?

Ohh woooow... I luff this! The calligraphy is absolutely perfect! The images along the side really add to it too. Vurry awesome job! And I luff that poem. ^-^

o_o Such pretty handwriting... *_* It's almost hard for me to believe it's possible to write like that. Oh! I think I found the mistake spot (by accident, heh). In "blossom" between the o and s?
Ahh... I'd like to say I can appreciate the poem as much as the handwriting, but... I'm simple as far as poetry goes. It's a nice poem, it just doesn't catch me. =\ I think I'm more the "ABAB" poem-type person. T_T
And the border pictures look wonderful, too. This is amazing caligraphy! And all your technical talk went over my head....

Indeed! That's where the mistake is. I was writing along, and all of a sudden, I had a brain fart and made an 'a' instead of an 's,' so I had to compensate and fix with---white acrylic paint!!! Wooo!

I adore your calligraphy(now I know I think I've said this before, but it makes the point no less valid or salient). I also agree with the earlier poster who said that they like the hand you had choosen, I do as well. It fits the spirit of the poem so well. And congrats for choosing that poem, it's a wonderful piece. And finally I like the surronding/background art, it's subtle but beautiful.

Beautifully done, it's a really nice hand that you chose to do it in as well, and the bordering design really adds to it. A great poem as well, I hadn't read it until now.
