Well, first off I work at a really high resolution. I scan my pencil lines at around 600 dpi so it starts out REALLY big. Next, I basically use the pen tool to outline the lines, if that makes any sense. Then after I've finished inking and coloring I reduce the whole picture to about 25% of of the original size. owo

and the pen tool god. I've worked with Illustrator so long before I started using photoshop I can't belieeve I forgot about it.

No problem! I gotta warn you though, inking the lines with the pen tool is a long, tedious process. D: If you HAVE a tablet I'd try using that instead just because it will SIGNIFICANTLY cut the ammount of time down. I'd suggest still working at a high resolution and using a hard edged brush, and if possible, in the brush settings, turn the "Spacing" option all the way to 0. at a very high resolution, you can use bigger brushes and get a smoother overall look. owo But if you have the time, the sharp, smooth lines that the pen tool can make really do make a difference. ^^ Hope I've helped at least a little bit. ^^
