Description Materiel: 9/10 oz English (Oak) Tanned Cowhide, Testors Model Paints, round leather cord.

( Yes, it's really leather, not metal! )

Method: I started with a strip of plain leather, drew the spiral design on paper, transfered it, then used a woodburning tool to do what I've started refering to as "Fire Carving".
I punched the holes at this stage as well.
Next, I got it nice and wet, and let it dry in the correct "bracelet" shape.
After that, it was on to the painting, starting with a couple light coats of Testors spray black, followed by handpained Testors Silver on the raised areas and the edges, with a bit of touch up with black where I made a couple of small errors.

Time: Roughly 8 hours, over about a week.

Comments: This design has been floating around in my head for a while now, and it's really nice to see how well it turned out. It's surprisingly comfortable, and looks fantastic when worn.

I could do these in other colors if someone has a request.

Price/Availability: Available. $35 USD + Shipping.

It is for sale, and shipping to Ireland isn't that expensive from here. If you want a quote on the shipping, just send me a note with your address. (Heck, when you convert the Euro to USD it get's cheaper!)

This is very inspiring! I worked for a while with a laser engraving company and we did some stuff on leather.... I still have some plans for pieces I wanna do with a wood burner and leather! (and all sorts of other things for that matter.... what am I doing here on the computer!? LET'S GET MAKING!)

My only advice is to play with some scrap pieces of leather before you start a big project.

Lovely! I adore the spirals at Newgrange, they are so mystical. I think you captured their wonder very well in this piece. I love how earthy this piece looks yet it has a bit of modern flair to it as well. Keep up the stunning work!

Thanks, glad to hear you like it.

I really enjoy this stuff- not much chance of me quitting, but I don't get near enough sales to do it full time.

Did you check out the ponytail holders?

I like those too. But I'm especially attracted to how packed the patterning is on the bracelet. It becomes texture, rather than a central design. And you know how I feel about texture!

Wow, this looks really cool o.o
Sure did take quite a while to make. I am kinda surprised it didn't catch fire when you tried to burn carve it.
Do you do commissions?

Yes, I'm open to commisions, check the bottom of the artist comment for info on that.

The temperatures used by a woodburning tool are not hot enough to ignite leather. It's much harder to cause properly tanned leather to flame than you would think.

Looks like it grew from ancient stone. Wonderfully inventive!

OMG this is soooo awesome! I love the spiral designs and the metal look gives this a real silver clay look. Wonderful!
