Description This character again. Making friends with old enemies or having to trust them when she's all out of options.

---

It's limited palette time and I'm trying to work under more of a strict time frame for personal pieces, so I can actually make more art in general, since I've been a ghost around here lately. Not that I haven't been making art but nothing I've felt confident sharing because I always feel the need to "finish" everything and always feel like everything could be better than what it is.

Made with Krita 4.1.1 , which has come a long way since I did the last painting.

Ahh that feeling XD The limited palette worked quite nicely Curious about what the lab coat person is up to and so is the cat apparently XD Love the interaction going on in the background, so cute XD Her wing shoulders look kind of small/thin? Or maybe I just draw them too big XD Have to comment on the good job with the lighting on the glassware too!

Thank you~! I think working in a limited palette definitely helped me to push through details in this piece without feeling overwhelmed. Otherwise, I'm fairly certain I would never have gotten this piece done in the time frame I did. There's definitely more I wish I had taken the pains to polish out more, but doubtless I may yet revisit this scene again.

Yes. Haven't referred to her by her pseudonym for a while, but neat that you've noted it. And thanks!

This is such an interesting piece... I love the mood! Also, I'm scared for the character on the background... Poor kid!!

Thank you~ She ends up okay after a few hurdles. And I'm glad. I'd love to do more stuff like this! Especially for this series. But time is an eternal enemy At best experimenting with how much I can do in a certain amount of time, but we shall see, at some point I'll have to arrange things chronologically.ย

i love the yellowy-orange palette you chose for this piece! it really emphasizes the alchemical things that hes doing at the front and makes it feel like an old photograph. i'm not usually a fan of yellow, but it works so well for this piece. great job!

Yellow has grown on me over the years. Probably because it's such a challenging color to work with on it's own but can look quite stunning in certain combination, I suppose the main key is how to keep the yellow looking crisp rather than dirty, unless dirty is the desired look. I'm glad you approve though. It was definitely fun to do and working monochromatic definitely made working in a smaller time frame slightly less stressful. I'm still amazed I got it done in the end.

Feels kinda alchemic stuff !
I like the fact you used a limited color palette, it makes it look very good, particular mood like we don't know if he's willing to help her or not !

Exactly what I was going for. And also wanted to try doing something with just yellow. May try out more of these monochromatic palettes in the future. They are definitely fun for building atmosphere.

Knowing when to call a piece done is important Otherwise you would never move on from the same piece.

Besides, I feel like this looks pretty great
But that may just be my bias for the colour yellowย

Thanks! And I agree. This is how I end up with eight WIP pieces and nowhere near completion with anyone (at least in my head) because I must always add more. But there is something to be said of knowing when to let go. And yellow is a great color.ย  ย
