Description Made in memory of a friend who passed away a month ago. This is her character from aΒ Pathfinder campaign, I met her in. She was one of two new players in our group. I was both excited for the new campaign and concerned that we were overwhelming her with our enthusiasm to help and conspire.

There was a time I wasn't even sure if she was even going to end up playing at all. She didn't join us for the first session but watched from afar. Afterwards, was the turn around I wasn't expecting. She proceeded to become the most enthusiastic player of the group. At the end of each session clamoring for longer session and more sessions. She had an insatiable appetite for the campaign, dnd and life in general. She wanted to get to know everyone's character, and unravel their secrets as she presented her's.

For her character, she crafted the Edge Lord to rule them all: Arkayla, a tough as nails Street-Urchin turned Slayer with a soft spot for animals, small children and luxurious things. She tried to hide this softer side of herself often, yet failed all the time against the party's amazing perception (for some reason this great insight was only effective in these vulnerable moments). All of this played it up with affection and humor. It was an amazing run together and my biggest regret is that we didn't get to spend more time together and our stories together had to end so suddenly.

Made with Krita .

Thank you. I had planned to do something for her before it happened, I'm just glad I could finish it and achieve a level of polish before the service.

Oh, this is so horrible I am so, so sorry for your loss...
I was eager to praise your piece, but now I feel like it would be inappropriate to be too enthusiast... Is that weird ?

I don't think so. It's definitely one of those cases where I understand why it may seem awkward but then I've always believed that the art and context while they intertwine can be approached in different respects, in the same sense a piece depicting a tragic event can be admired for it's craft even if the content or the circumstances surrounding it is upsetting. This actually was a subject I had plan on starting and finishing while she was alive anyways to use as a token image for her character and so while it would have been different for that purpose, it would have come into being one way or another. That said there was a strong motivation to ensure this piece came out as well as it could to this end, especially all things considered.

Thank you though.

Okay, so I'll say what I wanted so say about the piece
I love the lighting, I think the light from below makes a very nice effect on her face, and I love the border of blue flowers at the bottom. It reads as if the light was emitted by the flowers, which looks super pretty ! However, I think it could have been interesting to make the background (at the top) a little bit brighter so that her dark hair wouldn't disappear/blend with it. Apart from that, the light blue/cool red/purple color scheme is absolutely gorgeous !

Thank you and apologies for the late reply. I might just fiddle around with the background tone, now that I've had some space from this piece. Though hoping to finish up some new projects soon.Β

Oh no, don't worry, social media are rarely ever urgent, there's no lateness with them, at least in my book
Good luck with your projects !

Beautiful memorial, she'd probably be very happy about it, and it sounds like she was a really good friend and player to play with
This is tragic, I'm sorry for you...
She had a wonderful last months at least I guess

I'm amazed by how cheerful and kind you continued to be even with this happening in your life, you're strong

If it's not indiscreet to ask, why did she die ?

Yetinia In reply to Kaldrinn [2018-02-12 01:10:56 +0000 UTC]

I hope so. She had a hard life but she always made the most of it. The world is certainly grim enough and I certainly would want to aim to leave it brighter if it were me instead.

As for what happened... she was a passenger in a car that got hit by a truck. It was very sudden. It's still eerie how that morning,Β she was online chatting with people and then gone forever. There were no goodbyes.

Thank you though. I appreciate it. You've always been incredible sweet and thoughtful.

She sounds so strong

That's so unfair to die this way... Another argument in my sight of hating cars ><
I hope she's happy where she is, it's really heartbreaking

Ooh, thank you very much for these sweet words I can say the exact same with you

It's quite tragic that this new, enthusiastic member had to depart so suddenly, and permanently
At least it sounds like you all had a nice run with her. Such a nice person.

And this piece is a very beautiful memorial drawing So otherworldly and serene.
