Overview:
8.5 SIM is an intermediate rifle caliber, designed mostly for military-grade assault rifles, yet the semi-auto only civilian firearms for this cartridge also exist.
8.5 SIM comes in various payloads for various tasks.
The round types:
1-Full metal jacket(FMJ). Standard payload, has good penetration and stopping power.
2-Jacketed-hollow-point(JHP). When it hits the target, the round expands better transferring kinetic energy and dealing high damage to unarmored targets, at the cost of poor penetration.
3-Armor-piercing(AP). A sharp nose round with a tungsten core, has high penetration, but poor stopping power against unarmored targets.
4-Armor-piercing sabot round(APS). A tungsten flechette coated in discarding plastic sabot. When the round is fired, the sabot falls off, and the penetrator travels towards the target. It has excellent penetration, being able to penetrate both soft kevlar armor, and hard plated armor. It has poor stopping power against uarmored targets though.
5-Triplex round. A cartridge containing three FMJ bullets instead of one. The bullets leave the barrel with a little spread, turning each single shot to three-round burst. Each projectile has medium penetration and stopping power.
6-Needler flechette round. A cartridge containing three tungsten flechettes, tightly packet into a discarding plastic sabot. Upon being fired, the rounds leave the barrel with a tight spread. The round has a high penetration, at the cost of low stopping power.
7-Less lethal rubber bullet. A cartridge loaded with a rubber bullet, designed to incapacitate a target rather than to kill.
8-Incendiary round(INC)-A cartridge with a bullet containing some incendiary substance, which explodes on impact, ingniting anything that comes into contact.
9-High explosive(HE)- A cartridge with an explosive bullet, that explodes on impact, dealing a tremendous damage in direct hit, and damaging everyone in a short radius.
10-Armor-piercing incendiary(API)-A cartridge containing both tungsten penetrator and incendiary substance. The round is designed to penetrate the targets armor, and ingnite… whatever is inside, it has high penetration, and good stopping power, but the penetration is lower than AP round or APS.
11-Ripper-anti-zombie(RAZ)- As the name suggests this round is meant to be used against the zombies and mutants. The research conducted during several zombie outbreaks has concluded that the zombies have mostly atrophied nervous systems, causing them to stop feeling pain and ignore damage. That means that most rounds with high stopping power would have small effect on zombie, due to the fact that zombie will likely ignore damage and continue its offence. This sounds sadistically but the best way to incapacitate a zombie-is to dismember it.Upon being fired the ripper bullet travels to the target ,spinning in the air,and it will continue to spin for a couple of seconds after entering the target, tearing of limbs and grinding internal options. The rounds are banned to use against people during wartime, and it is illegal for civilians to own any of the RAZ rounds.Possession of RAZ rounds, like possessing armor-piercing bullets mandates confiscation of ammo and any firearm the user has in their possession.
