This page will describe the upgrades available to the Gordon-brown GB-10 submachinegun. If you want to see the description of basic weapon, go here –(www.deviantart.com/biomechanoi… )
Overview:
Gordon-Brown GB-10 is a pretty versatile weapon, showing itself pretty good in many tactical situations, be it a medium-range positioned fight, or a close quarter combat. While it’s short barrel cousin shows itself pretty good as pistol in PDW role. But with the wide number of accessories, the weapon’s performance is drastically improved, being able to accomplish a wide number of tasks much better.
It is worth noting, that both variants of the weapon share the same upgrades.
Accessory Rails:
Before we start, it is worth to note, that mostly, neither of the weapon variants come with accessory rails by default. The user has to buy and install them separately. The accessory rails are necessary to mount most accessories.
The standard, full-length SMG can have a long rail segment on the top of the receiver, and a railed handguard to the heatshield, while it’s short barrel brother it can have a rail on top of the receiver, and a rail at the bottom.
In some cases, both smg variants may already come with accessory rails installed.
Sights:
The top rail can be used to mount various sights for aiming. The quick aim is essential for smg user, so most of the users will mount a reflex sight. More brave users can mount an optic sight with a short zoom.
The list of sights includes Periflex-50 periscopic reflex sight, exclusive to this smg. Unlike the other sights Periflex-50 doesn’t interface with the accessory rail, and instead is affixed to the top of the receiver of the smg via small screws.
Side and bottom rails:
The side and bottom rails of both variants can be used to mount various accessories, such as laser sights, flashlights, or a combination of the two devices in one.
The bottom rails can also be used to mount either a vertical or an angled front grip, for better weapon handling.
The other side rail accessories include a “revisor” ammo counter, which shows how much ammo is left in the weapon. It should be noted that “revisor” tells how many ammo is left in both magazines plus a chambered round. If two “revisors” are installed, they tell how many ammo is left in each magazine individually.
And the last thing is a “FragTrack” frag tracking system.
The “fragtrack” is more of a tool of statistics, than any practical upgrade. This device not only records how many people did you kill, but also shows, the detail of each kill, for example how many shots did you fire, and how many hit the target. Or how many headshots did you during the skirmish. The “fragtrack” consists of two devices: the camera sensor, which doesn’t make a movie, but tracks the bullet trajectory and hit spot. And a digital display, which is used to display how many kills you made.
Magazines:
GB-10 feeds from two 15-round magazines by default giving it a 30+1 rounds in total, while GB-10-S feeds from two 10-rounders giving it 20+1 rounds. Both smg’s use interchangeable magazines, and can feed from each other’s magazinese.
There are also 20-round magazines which fit both GB-10 and it’s short variant, giving the weapon 40+1 round capacity.
Muzzle accessories:
The 10mm SPM doesn’t make much recoil, but the user still has an option of installing a muzzle brake to the muzzle, to reduce the recoil, and make the weapon more controllable.
Both smg variants can be easily suppressed, making them good candidates for stealth missions. Silencer.co SUP-10 and SUP-10L are both good silencers, good for silencing the weapon.
Internal upgrades:
Some gunsmiths can work with the weapon’s internal parts, to improve it’s accuracy, increase or decrease rate of fire, and improve reliability.
The more subtle upgrades, relating to the magazine housing, include:
-dual round chambering. This upgrade adds a second chamber, allowing the weapons to chamber rounds from both magazines at once, and enabling user to switch between magazines without the need to cycle the gun, or to fire the first round.
-Automatic magazine switch. Simply. When the last round is chambered, the weapon automatically flips the switch, and starts feeding from another magazine.
Other:
The protruding barrel can be used to install a bayonet. Though no bayonet attachments are manufactured for this weapon, a simple piece of rebar, sharpened from one side, and welded under the barrel should be more than enough, in those nasty close encounters.
