Description
Author’s note: This page will describe the upgrades available to the MGT-45 submachinegun. If you want to see the description of basic weapon, go here –(www.deviantart.com/biomechanoi… ).
Overview:
MGT-45 can have some aftermarket attachments, that improve it’s performance in one way or another. Though, being an smg the weapon is still limited to short or medium range engagements. Both MGT-45 and it’s pistol variants feature an accessory rail at the top of the receiver, but the pistol also has an underbarrel accessory rail. The muzzle of the weapons can also be used as a mounting point for various muzzle attachments.
Both pistol and smg share the same parts, and share some internal upgrades.
Sights:
MGT-45 and it’s pistol variant, have an accessory rail at the top of the receiver which can be used to mount various sights.
Quick and stable aim is essential in close quarters combat as well as at medium range, so various reflex sights are advised to install, though more optimistic users may also opt to install scopes with short magnification.
Underbarrel accessory rail:
MGT-45.P features an underbarrel accessory rail, that can be used to mount a laser sight, or a tactical flashlight, if any of these will fit onto the rail.
Magazines:
MGT-45 comes with a 20-round magazine by default, and it’s pistol variant comes with a 10-round one. Both pistol and smg have same magazine wells, meaning that the magazines are interchangeable.
Aside from these, both weapons may feed from a 30-round extended magazine, or use 50-round drum mag.
Muzzle accessories:
The weapons feature a protruding barrel with compensator cuts. The barrel can be used to mount various muzzle accessories.
Honestly I thought, should I include anything other than suppressors into the list, since the weapon already has a muzzle brake in the form of angled cuts in the barrel. While not shown on the artwork, the weapon can mount a muzzle brake or a muzzle flash hider, above the one already installed. These should help to mitigate the recoil of the weapon.
Like I said above, the weapon can mount a suppressor, but… honestly to say, MGT-45 is not the best candidate for stealth missions, since the open bolt firing mechanism is pretty noisy, so you may forget about Hollywood stealth. But nevertheless the suppressor is good in helping the user to mitigate the recoil, and to preserve those precious ears.
Internal upgrades:
Speaking of internal upgrades, the user may work with internal parts to improve the weapon’s performance in terms of reliability. The user may also install a barrel with smaller twist rate to improve the accuracy.
One of the complaints of the users about the smg is a heavy bolt. The heavy bolt reciprocates forward and backward, creating a lot of tremors, seriously throwing off the aim and making controlling the weapon, without strong grip, difficult. Reducing the bolt weight should mitigate this problem.
MGT-45-P comes with safe/semi-auto firemodes only, and cannot fire in full-auto by default. But some gunsmiths can convert the weapon to fire in full-auto.
Other:
For those who like to do it close and personal, the user may install a bayonet in the form of a small metal spike welded under the barrel.
