Description One of the most beautiful and chaotic places I've ever been. I won't say where this is though some may already know--if you do, keep it to yourself. I'm working to gain (legal) access to the area for a photo project. I've the necessary forms for the permits, now all I need is a three day weekend and some great weather and clouds to go with it

The landscape you see here is composed of 21 individual shots stitched together in Photoshop. The TIFF is HUGE and this JPEG version is still very very large at 27.5 MB. Shot with a Nikon D90, 80-200 f/2.8 @ 80mm, ISO 200 and a circular polarizer. The original concept had 64 individual shots in it--this is about the middle third of the composition. It's very close to a giga-panorama, but I don't have the proper tripod head for them--one that swivels the camera along its nodal point.

I didn't include any sky with this for a reason--it sucked! and I didn't want any reference points to show for anyone who might seek this place out. I will tell you in good time--when I am done with the location, that is! There is so much going on in this landscape that it is almost dizzying to see in person. One person I showed it to said it lacked any depth as there is nothing in the shot to give it scale--I suppose this is true, but it looks exactly like this in person. Almost 2-D. That's the only reason I've left the file as large as I did--so you could click on it and see some of the amazing details in the place.

I've one other panorama of this place to show soon. I tried to work up single shots but they don't show enough Anyway, enjoy!

Erm, uh huh. I'm not quite sure how that happened. Yet whenever I think of a disaster I usually think of with her terrible luck and much need of help.

Heh, well that's good. I would appreciate it if you continued doing that, but if you decided not to I would understand why. Also, so far this is the only mention I've gotten
