PERSONALS
Occupation: Voix de Ville companion/entertainer and an Apellon dittech distributor on the side. As an entertainer, his primary skills are dancing and conversational companionship. He also offers his services as a companion outside of VdV should a patron want a partner for events. As a distributor, he's currently in charge of finding Pokémon willing to take labor contracts to work in the fight pits, primarily as regular staff (security, custodians, etc.) but occasionally as fighters.
Town of Residence: Lumiose City
Personality:
Fun-loving and friendly, Troian is a person bursting with energy and an earnest desire to have a good time. He is confident in himself and very difficult to embarrass or otherwise devalue; he knows what he's worth, and he doesn't let others bring him down. He is easy company and enjoys conversation and companionship to its fullest, but will never press or push people into socialization if they are uncomfortable or disinterested. Because of this he's very good at reading the moods and social cues of others - he knows when someone is open for interaction, and he knows when to back off if needed.
He can seem a little devil-may-care when it comes to his personal life and ambitions, but for the most part he's fairly self-sufficient and knows how to have a good time while doing what needs to be done. His love for fun isn't his sole motivator, and he's smart enough to know when to buckle down and act serious. While many might peg him as being unreliable, he's quite the opposite; if someone gives him a task, he will do everything in his power to make sure it gets done. He prefers not to be judged for his need to keep things lighthearted, though.
Despite his confidence and bravado, Troian often finds himself relying very heavily on the opinions and praise of others. He can become overly attached to people who have shown him kindness, and will blur the line between gratitude and blind devotion if fed the right compliments and care. He is overprotective to a fault, and unfortunately very easy to sway when the desires of those he's become attached to are leveraged against him.
History:
Troian was born and lived out his early months in the Relic Castle in Unova. He was captured at a very young age, picked up as a nervous and somewhat cowardly Yamask. His trainer was a fierce battler, however, and he pushed Troian hard - he trained him as part of a skilled team, hoping to challenge the league and become a champion. It was difficult for him to keep up with the rigorous training, but Troian perservered, eventually evolving into a Cofagrigus. He became confident - almost cocky - upon the realization that he wasn't the same small and weak Yamask he'd been before. He could defend himself, and he performed well enough that his trainer was actually proud of him. He considered it a victory.
Things took a turn for the worse when his trainer fell on hard times and lost all of his money through debt and gambling. He was forced to sell half of his carefully crafted team just to scrape together enough money to keep going, leaving him ill prepared to continue his league journey as planned. Upset and unsure what to do, the trainer finally turned on Troian, deciding his best bet would be to dismantle the Cofagrigus' exterior and sell his gold, destroying him in the process. He predicted that he could make enough money to purchase even stronger Pokémon than those he'd sold, which he deemed worth the cost of Troian's life.
Troian, of course, reacted violently to the decision. When his trainer made the attempt, Troian attacked him in self defense. He couldn't help it, overcome by the intense desire to stay alive - he devoured the human much the way his kind was capable of dispatching unlucky graverobbers. It wasn't until after he was done that Troian realized the ramifications of what he had done.
Troi struggled with what he should do next, eventually deciding that he needed to leave. He released the trainer's remaining Pokémon, lying that their trainer had abandoned them so they might seek new homes. The remainder of the team then split up, and Troian continued on alone.
He was eventually found by an Apellon dittech distributor in the Unovan wilderness. The distributor reached out to him, offering him the chance to be a human in exchange for a work contract with their organization. With no other plans for his future aside from wandering alone, Troian agreed to the terms and entered the Apellon ranks.
He spent a little time as a distributor himself at first, eventually deciding one fateful day to return to the Relic Castle to see his home. He was surprised when he stumbled into a confrontation, however - a human was attacking a wild Volcarona, intent on capturing it. He scared the human away quickly enough, before realizing the Volcarona was an escaped trainer's Pokémon who was simply returning to its home. He empathized with them, and decided to extend them the same courtesy he'd been offered - a dittech for their allegiance to Apellon. The Volcarona - later named Sable - agreed.
A year passed before he saw them again. They came to find him and explain how the dittech he'd given them had allowed them to move forward in the company and find a more comfortable job as a bodyguard and a performer at Voix de Ville. They offered him a favor in return for giving them their dittech; they would vouch for him if he decided he'd like to work at VdV as well. Deciding he wanted a change of pace, he agreed.
Relationships:
Sable (Volcarona) - A Pokéhuman Troian rescued and gave a dittech. Sable later found Troian and got him a job at the Voix de Ville as thanks for his help. As a dweller of the Relic Castle, Troian's devotion to the first Volcarona manifests as great respect for Sable as a descendent. Sable isn't sure how they feel about this, but both remain good friends.
Extras:
- Troian rarely looks to recruit fighters because of how over-saturated the market already is. He only takes a chance on those he's absolutely certain have the potential to put on a good show. He takes his job to extend contracts on Apellon's behalf very seriously, and takes great pains to avoid vouching for a dud.
- Having been born in the Relic Castle, Troian saw Volcarona as a figurehead of sorts and later came to view it as a deity. He believes the first Volcarona brought sunlight to the world in darkness, and personally believes that all modern Larvesta and Volcarona are its descendants. He doesn't worship them, but he does respect them.
