As the second of four paralarvae of a poor subsistence fisher, little Murrough Sanderson never imagined that he would ever become a profreshional Splatoon battler, much less one on a top flight championship team. Whenever his school was out, Murrough would join his father on their small, rickety fishing boat from just after midnight to just before dawn to catch barely enough fish to sell to the local market. Occasionally, both Sr. and Jr. Murrough would join a bigger boat whose crew needed extra pairs of tentacles.
It was on one such boat where Murrough would learn how to operate a speargun. Over time, he became very proficient and accurate with it. One night, a local scout for Deep Blue Inkorporated witnessed Murrough firing the speargun and was impressed enough to invite him to a tryout, even offering to drive both father and son to the camp for free. Murrough readily accepted the offer, his father gave his consent, and Murrough exceled in an amateur league before ultimately getting recruited by and signing with Deep Blue Inkorporated, which has dominated the league thanks to his poise and steady aim.
Scouting analysis:
Sanderson is feared and respected throughout the entire Profreshional Splatoon League as one of the top three snipers in the game. While mobile and accurate enough to play offensively, he is most renowned for his defense. Assign him an area to defend, and he will hold the backline and snipe any would-be flankers who dare to break through. With the patience and composure of a good fisherman, he will not stray too far from his area unless the circumstances of the battle force him to move. As Deep Blue Inkorporated’s anchor, “Sand Squid” is a major reason why it almost never blows last-minute leads.
While some charger mains will juggle various charger variants based on the mode and stage, Sanderson relies only on the original variants of both the Splatterscope and the Splat Charger. He most often wields the former for its range and precision but will use the latter whenever he requires the mobility afforded by its ability to store its charge. His steady composure and pin-point accuracy with both his charger and the Sting Ray have secured victory for his team innumerable times.
