Bio:
Like his best friend Omar Augustín and many of their Red October teammates, Santiago Kappablanka is the grandson of Octoling refugees, who had defected from DJ Octavio and the Octarians, and had yearned to become an elite profreshional battler as a young paralarva. Unfocused, undisciplined, and hyperactive, Santiago did not take his studies–or his life–seriously, so his grandfather, a former professional Splatoon player in both the Octoleet and Profreshional Splatoon Leagues, withheld Santiago’s training until he seriously improved his grades. Given both motivation and direction, Santiago excelled in his training and climbed the rankings quickly enough to get recruited by Red October.

Santiago thinks of himself as a ladies man and is a bit of a skirt chaser, but he is not committed enough to settle into a long-term relationship yet. He can also be a troll in and out of battle by sharking his opponents or playing practical jokes. However, deep down, he is a very caring Octoling, especially to his fellow Octolings, willing to both help out his friends outside of battle and risk getting splatted in the heat of battle.

Scouting analysis:
Kappablanka is the main slayer for Red October and, thus, the spearhead of its potent offense. Blindingly fast, extremely aggressive, and lethally accurate, he rarely lets the pressure off of his opponents and enjoys playing mind games with them. However, he has tendencies to either overextend himself, leading him into one-on-two situations, or spawn camp while neglecting the objective. Nonetheless, he is feared and respected throughout the entire Profreshional Splatoon League—especially by opposing anchors, who always have to remain aware of his numerous flanking and sharking attempts.

Kappablanka currently favors the new Enperry Splat Dualies for their evasiveness and Curling Bombs, which further increase his already incredible mobility. He is unafraid to make risky maneuvers with the new Inkjet to land critical splats, often against opposing slayers but sometimes against the opponent’s anchor as well. He will sometimes switch back to the Octo Shot Replica whenever splatting power or its Splat Bombs are needed. Eager to try new weapons, he awaits the Kensa Collection of weapons, particularly the Kensa Splat Dualies and the Kensa Splattershot.
