Description Total eclipse of the moon tonight. Decided It was far overdue for me to break my camera out, so I went outside set up the tripod and snapped off some shots for about an hour or so.

Sorry about the quality, its not the best, but at 250mm getting a shot of the moon was a bit difficult not to mention the lens isnt exactly the best lens ever.

I had a few more slightly sharper shots when the eclipse was more full, but I really loved the lens flare and I really liked the lone star off to the right.

The only postprocessing done other than some noise reduction and sharpening was RAW conversion.

I have also been informed that its probably Venus off to the right and not a star.

I wish you could have had a chance to take photos of the eclipse as well. But we had only clouds, clouds, clouds and I hated it. Anyway, nice photo and cool effect. I love how you caught the first moments of the moon coming out of the shadow.

Yea I was lucky back in December, but we had a pretty good view and pretty good weather. I sat outside in the cold taking pictures for about an hour. Just needed more reach on my lens, this is basically a 100% crop.

I know what you mean about the last part. I need a lense with more reach as well. It's hard to take photos of birds, wild animals and the moon with only 200 mm. *sighs*

Its actually just lens flare. But I liked the lens flare so much that I thought this shot was better than others I took that had no lens flare.

Wow! That looks fantastic! Sadly, this is the only way I'll be able to see it because over here in California, we're being drenched by rain.

Thanks! Yea I had a friend in LA telling me that it was raining, but it was mostly clear here so Im glad I could help you see it through my camera lens.
