Description 50% Apophysis, 50% GIMP / Ubuntu 9.10 / Wacom Intuos4

Recently I've been playing around with the flame fractal generator Apophysis . In the world of fractal art, this is surely a very simple flame.

But I liked the resemblance of my result to a sunset, so I expanded on it. This will become the Chapter 11 header for my WIP An Orthogonal Universe . In this scene the character loses a dear friend and finds himself alone. On his way out of town he stops to contemplate the sunset.

A simple flame, but a beautiful one. Love the use of the flame in the artwork. Really suits it.

Thanks

I wish I could see an aurora borealis, but NC is too far south. My wife is from WA State. One of these days I am bound to see one when we visit her folks up there.
