The coloured, backgrounded version of this .Also wonderfully coloured by ~SuperHylian !
"Kaiserlich und Königlich" means "Imperial and Royal", and is often used to refer specifically to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. For more details see here . I couldn't get the umlaut on the "o" there in the title, dA didn't allow it.
It's very dark (colour-wise), but it's sorta what I was going for. I thought it wouldn't be right to start doing Hetalia fanart without doing one for my OTP artsy-husband ninja-wife; and since I like to have historical references... here's Mr. and Mrs. WWI. Can't quite believe there's no mention of the third party of the Triple-Alliance in Hetalia canon, when they pretty much started the Great War (I know it's a lot more complicated than that, but I'll refrain from inducing tl;dr).
Felt-tip inking, mouse colouring and PhotoShop manipulation. The background is a combination of the Austria-Hungary ensign and a stock photo . Outfits are based on the Austro-Hungarian infantry standard issue during (late) WWI and mostly referenced from here . The firearms and stuff are also standard issue of the Austro-Hungarian troops, but I sorta found the ref photos from discussion forums...
Axis Powers Hetalia, Austria/Roderich and Hungary/Elizabeta belong to Himaruya Hidekaz.

I've recently travelled to Austria, and it's pretty amazing how evident it is that Austria really misses his empire days. I also stand by the idea that he's still very, very much in love with Hungary, based on social and political observations. In fact I have about a million head-canons about Austria right about now...

Uhh, don't think so. I mean, Austria misses his glory days, but I don't think an empire and a functional monarchy in this day and age is doable without hectic political backlash.

I really do like this picture. I like the poses, and the guns. I also appreciate you taking the time to finding and drawing out the appropriate uniforms and keeping it HISTORICALLY accurate. And for some reason, I love Hungary's eyes. They are very striking. Perhaps because they are slightly more saturated...?
AND SPEAKING OF THAT.
The saturation is great. And a great dark tone. I appreciate pictures that aren't and uagghajhajdfsaaa COLOUR. But this is very nice. And it fits the mood.
I also like Austria's hair.
Makes me want to cut mine...
All in all... I want to see more pictures like this! You don't see much of this for Hetalia. And that's just sad.

Okay, let's see, comment. I'm less familiar with these two characters than I am with the others, but there is definitely a Learei sort of quality to this one. I WILL, however, come out and say that, as much as I can appreciate the time and effort put into the drawing of accurate costumes, Rei will never put on something like that. She's much too much of a girl. XD
Anyhow! There's a darker sort of quality to this one than there are in your other Hetalia pictures. You pointed it out in your comments, but yeah. It's the first thing I noticed. The background is pretty neat, too, and I still think it's pretty darn awesome that you do this with a mouse.
I have to say, though, that my favourite part of this is the fella's gun. It looks awful fun to shoot. And I -know- it exists because you do your research that way. XD
...and, how cool is it that she has a flower in her head, even in the midst of battle, eh? It's all part of character design, I suppose?
Overall, good job! ...I still prefer that pic of baby Oz, though. *goes to coo over baby*
