Yay! Matrix art! How did you go about making this?

Hmmm let's see,
Oh yes,I received a box of laser cut scrap stainless steel, most of which were small rectangles with a 1"diameter hole centered in each.I thought ,and upon further examination confirmed that these little rectangles in 12 gauge were "golden rectangles",that is, their length was exactly 1.618 times their width.
The Matrix Trilogy was "up" for me at the time,(meaning it was in my present consciousness).I was disappointed that the pill box in the movie was not given greater emphasis with at least a nice close up of some well designed container that fit within the somewhat dark Steam punk meets future production design of the film. And so of course decided to do my own.The convex interior is a cold formed disc that I pre-polished to a mirror finish. The cover was filled with a similar disc that was flat.I was imagining the Escher-like effect of peering closely at the interior of the container to retrieve two VERY different pills and noticing the reflection in the concavity.THAT was the scene missing in the film...IMHO

Wow... Nice!
I understand what you're saying about the movie, but that seen was going too fast to stop for something like that.

No key, please. The stark simplicity is part of the appeal (which, for me, it has lots of).

Thank you Don.
Peter(Bettendorff) owns the piece now.
And it remains unornamented...

I watched the movie last night because I couldn't remember what the original pill box looked like, and it was unremarkable,as I assumed since my memory of it was foggy.
The Wachowski brothers did such a great job with the film,I was just disappointed that the box wasn't at least in some way ornamented since it held such symbolic power...

I'm still refining the design,
this is merely the prototype.
But the polished sphere camber has an interesting side effect when you look into it ,it's like a lens (reverses the image).
Very pregnant with possibilities as a scrying device.
