Part of my Lost Leaves fabric book project (completed May 2011). The book is made of a number of fabric pages, illustrated using a variety of techniques. Throughout the book, and round the covers, creep strands of wired ivy, representing the way fiction encroaches on reality and vice versa...

"Of Loss and Life" is a double page spread, of which here is shown 'loss' - Gandalf the Grey's fall in Moria, complete with Balrog. Dyed linen ground, machine emroidered text, hand embroidered bridge of Khazad-dum, Balrog and Gandalf... (just in case i need to qualify - this is from JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring).
