Description I'm alive!
Sorry for the infrequent posting. I haven't actually painted since August, when the semester started--I've been taking a 3D art class, but didn't have a chance to paint till Thanksgiving break. This is a one hour speedpaint I did of my sister, from life. Not a perfect likeness--some weirdness in the colors--but, I like it.

Your sister is beautiful You have drawn her so well. When you say it is not a perfect likeness, I wonder what she looks like in a photo. I think you must be a wonderful sister. Because you compose your siblings so well. My sister is wonderful, however she usually is unhappy with me. But then I am probably someone to be unhappy with. So I get what I deserve I would imagine.

Thank you! I get along well with my sister (not that we don't have our spats; we're very different people.)

All this in just one hour?! Amazing! Your sister must be really flattered cos this is a great job! I like the roughness of it all and the way the colours scream at you. It's like a sharp contrast with her calm almost neutral expression.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much! I can paint pretty fast, although some of the accuracy gets lost by the wayside. I'm glad you like it

Sometimes accuracy is way overrated! Raw, spontaneous ideas have such a dramatic impact, and taking the time to clean up the lines and details might get in the way of the flow of expression.

I think you were able to say all that needed to be said here. More accuracy wouldn't have added much more useful information. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I definitely like a loose, sketchy (or in this case painterly) style. It's actually surprisingly hard to maintain looseness AND accuracy, which is my ideal.

Well, maybe they're not meant to go together in the first place. Different kinds of expressions could sometimes conflict with one another.

Whatever the case may be, you did a great job and that's all that really matters, isn't it? With art, the end always justifies the means.
