In silence it stood, its brethren waiting behind it. The brute shook as its prey had seemingly find it. In the woods, deep the Bogle hid them: the corpses of prey they grinded.

Ecology
The bogle, also known as ettin, are great crocodilian-humanoids that live in woods. They seem to have evolved from other reptilian humanoid which ventured into the Echo. Though they have signs of magical corruption, they don't present magical properties.
Inside their tribes, the strongest is considered the chief. To determine who's strongest, they hold cerimonial fights in which the contestants fight by only using their head and neck. The one who falls or gives up loses. The winner becomes the new chief, its body is painted, and it is given an ornment to wear.
During the day, the males hunt by forming small groups. The females remain at the village where they take care of the eggs and work the remains of their prey to build tools. Their hunts can last even a few days. This is because the bogle are only active during the hottest hours of the day. Fortunately, the bogle can survive for even weeks without food.
To make sure no child roams into unknown parts of a forest or accidentally falls into the Echo, tales of hungry, evil bogle are told to scare them off. In truth, it can depend. There are both known cases of bogle finding humanoid delicious, and inspiring goods-bringers.

I honestly never liked D&D giants' design. Their history is cool, but they are just big men with elemental powers. To differentiate them more, I made them each more distinct and interesting design. This was the ettin's round. From a two-headed bickering giant, to a tribal crocodilian behemoth.
