Description Alright, so I bought an ACIII poster when the poster sale came through my school and one of the first thing that I noticed was that Connor wore a friendship bracelet 8D 2 actually, one on each arm. (Actually it's probably beaded since he's a Mohawk and they made beaded jewlery, but I can still make a knotted version) So I immediately wanted to make it.

This is actually the first time I ever solved a pattern x3 It doesn't look that complicated, but it was actually quite difficult to get all the colours where they should be.

To minimalize any warping of the pattern as well as to make the armlet wide enough, I suggest using 2 embroidery floss for each string.

Other bracelet patterns:
Assassin's Symbol: [link]
Templar Cross:[link]

Finished armlet: [link]

Visuals for the pattern made using: [link]
Although I initally solved by scribbling the pattern on paint

EDIT: OH MY GOODNESS I never expected a DD ;________________; Thaaannnnk yooooouuuuuuuuu

This is really really cool! One question, though: did you tie all the strings for the pattern together at the top or did you do smaller groups (in order of the pattern) and knot them together as you went along the pattern? Thank you for posting this, it's way too cool to pass up

Cherry-Chain In reply to enilosa [2013-01-18 01:06:33 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if I understood your question entirely, but I tied all the string up at the top and when I reached the bottom of this pattern, the string are aligned the same way as the top of the pattern so I could repeat it

Hey I'm a native and also a beader, and I think it's pretty cool you did your own version of this and did a knotted bracelet! You did a good job! (Also this stuff is beaded on a loom! If anyone asks lol)

Kudos to you

Thank you very much! I was actually thinking about how it would be really cool to have this around your wrist instead of an armband. It'd also be really awesome as an armband because I would imagine it much easier to sew onto fabric versus beads...in short...this is fantastic~!

But I do appreciate this. Congrats on the DD as well

SO gonna try this!!
how do you do knots if you're using 2 embroidery flosses for each string? do you just treat them as if they were one?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to Madeau [2012-12-02 04:36:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, just treat them as one string. It's to make the armlet thick enough

Pretty awesome idea!

However, if I am to assume that this is actually a video game on a historical level (as in not modern times), then it probably isn't a friendship bracelet, but rather tablet weaving. It was actually common throughout history for sleeves, trim, and belts.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to UnaAngelFay [2012-12-01 19:11:59 +0000 UTC]

Actually, like I mentioned in the description, it's likely beaded because the character wearing this is a Mohawk native ^^ I was aware of this, but that doesn't stop me from making a friendship bracelet version

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to xxJackiePackiexo [2012-12-01 17:49:00 +0000 UTC]

It's not that difficult! All you need to know are the 4 knots and all the patterns made this way are doable

I used 2 strands of Embroidery floss for each string in the pattern

I used to draw lots of those patterns by hand, figuring how the thread goes was better than Sudoku XD

EH, been years. Might want to make one when I finally go and buy the game...
I think you could also use some nice colored wool or really thin ribbons for this.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

magpiedragon In reply to magpiedragon [2012-12-01 15:10:29 +0000 UTC]

Or colored leather cords. Probably a bit awkward to tie but should be possible, shouldn't it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to magpiedragon [2012-12-01 17:12:16 +0000 UTC]

I can't imagine leather cords to be able to make the nice even knots? I'd love to hear the results if you ever try it ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

magpiedragon In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-12-01 17:44:45 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's doable. [link] This is mostly messy because I was in a hurry. (procrastinating before test much?)

Finding someone who sells pieces that are longer than 1m and the fact that it'll end up veeery wide would be bigger problems.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to magpiedragon [2012-12-01 17:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that does look cool.

Each knot has a very distinctive shape that's different from the usual "bump", which probably wouldn't look as much like the beaded bracelet Connor has though.

I'll definitely look into it for some other patterns some day though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

magpiedragon In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-12-01 17:57:31 +0000 UTC]

Or the opposite. If you are careful and always tie 'shinier' part of the cord up it could look a lot like beads. They are also longer than wider so the pattern should be more rhomboidal than square, like in game.

I kinda think I will too ^^ Fair warning. This'll probably cause blisters if you aren't careful and yank at the cords like I do

Fantastic idea, thanks!! So far as the string, try the heavier wax coated stuff - not the super heavy leather sewing wax string - the mini weight. It will flex slightly but not break easily. (forgive me for not remembering the proper name, will find out though and link).

Anyway, your idea was great and thats whats important - good luck on the next version! xD
