Description Yet another cake! I made this for , for his piano recital (I've already made a piano cake so I wanted to try something new... It's the first three layer cake I've ever made, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. There's white and green on the other side, but the green side had a slight convex shape to it, so I left it out of the photo.

Sure!

The recipe for the actual cake was just a regular cake mix from the box. I made it in a rectangle pan, then just stacked two layers on top of one another so that there was a cube-shape. I frosted in-between the layers to help hold them together, and the rectangle had some leftover chunks of cake in it (I had to cut out the two pieces to stack for the cube, which did not use up the whole cake).

Once the pieces were stacked, I made 5 different color frostings using food coloring and vanilla frosting, and frosted each side with a different color. Then I drew the black lines with a little tube of black frosting.

Hope that helps!

Incredible... might I suggest smoothing the frosting by getting a knife wet with hot water, and then use that to run it oer the frosting once more?

I hope so You gave a much better reaction to this advice than one of my other friends...

"WHAT, IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH? THE ICING'S TOO ROUGH FOR YOU? TOO BAD! THIS IS MY CAKE AND MY RULES!"

I was like, "Geez, woman...."
She didn't appreciate that, either xD

Yeah it's tough to give/get advice online, since people will take things the wrong way sometimes.

I just used regular white store-bought frosting, and added lots of food coloring to make each side bright enough. For the black lines, I bought a few small tubes of decorative gel-like black frosting.
