Description I always admired the ODST's. It takes alot to plummet down from space, into the most hostel location of the battlefield, and still have the courage to continue to fight.

What's even more admirable is that the ODST's are all-volunteer units: every ODST became one of their own volition. And as the artist pointed out, it takes guts of gold to sign up for what they do.

yeah Spartans are cool and all, but they don't know any better than to follow orders, ODSt's on the other hand are the real bad asses. I personally would rather be an ODST.

Not in the books though, I don't know the exact words so I will kinda dumb it down so I can explain it to myself, he said that there where three type of people, commanding officers, teammates, and enemy's, follow the orders of the commanding officers orders, help teammates, eliminate enemy's, but that was before halo 1 combat evolved, that's where he starts to get his own personality and not so much as a killing machine.

And that is why I value my men's lives in Halo. in missions with ODSTs in it, If one dies, i reset that section and protect them better.

As cool as this is, you have to think of it as a blanket statement for real Special Forces. Β They have some of the most dangerous jobs in the world and they volunteer to do it.

its a reference towards how they call Spartans Demons, and since they are "faceless too" and have similar look to Spartans, (smaller and weaker though, and come in a larger number) they are called Imps

Which is more badass, falling out of the sky, landing on a Chieftain, ejecting the pod door and killing a Prophet, or just punching it ONCE, claiming you killed them, and then getting glory that should have been an ODST's?

it even says in one of the first 3 books: ODST's are an all-volunteer unit, and it takes a special kind of crazy to join up.

when you have a purely volunteer-based troop count in a war where your pretty much conscripted into the military by default at age 18, that is slightly messed up.

still, my best friend colonel Oswald Derek Stafford Terrence (imaginary) just LOVES to jump into a dropship full of brute chieftains with only a bent kitchen knife...

Kane-The-KnifeGuy [2011-11-09 01:44:28 +0000 UTC]

I think just as highly of the ODSTs. They are, just as good as Spartans. Spartans (Aside from MK III) have a lower mortality rate simply because of the tech, and evac, and gear they get. If an ODST makes it back, it's because HE saved himself. not his gear.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bluewind2006 In reply to Kane-The-KnifeGuy [2011-11-09 06:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Well you also have to remember that Spartans have a lower mortality rate because they were trained in warfare since they were 5 years old. What I admire about the ODSTs is that they have very low mortality rates, get the job done, and make it back alive, and they're un-augmented humans.

With your description, I agree wholeheartedly.....Infantry, Marines, ODSTs, Spartans. They all run toward gunfire. It's not a lack of fear, they know there is a greater cause that outweighs their fear, and so they push forth with effort. Great job.

i mean Reach is awesome, but i was never interested in the game franchise that much until ODST's TV short came on. Sums them up

13 dead SPARTANS to be precise, which means there were other teams on Reach helping defend the planet besides Noble.
