My boy has returned once again...

Alright, so I drew this in like record time for me recently...I got the sketch and lineart done all in one day (minus cleaning up the lineart) and then i got all the details, shading, and background done today. The final colours/lighting aren't really what I wanted, but that's kind of what happens when you draw the way I do, by just choosing shading values willy nilly and trying to fix it by slapping a bunch of correction layers and overlays on at the end. And hey, it wouldn't be a PicklePieCow original if the lighting turned out how I wanted anyway LOL

I swear this man's hair gets longer every time I draw him...but he's got his head tilted back this time so it's okay that it looks a bit longer. Speaking of the hair, there's some loss of detail with the shading that I don't normally get and I'm not sure what caused that...unfortunate. Oh well. Another aspect of him that changes every time I draw him are his scars. This time though I'm relatively happy with what I did. Getting them to blend properly with his skin and not look too out of place was suuuuuch a pain and they don't look as impressive when they're less prominent like this. In fairness, at least some of them should be barely visible; he's been sober for at least two years...but at the same time, they have to be noticeable enough that he's self conscious about them. In my last sleeveless Darren drawing, they were basically just bruises and could barely be seen. This time we have some actual scar tissue from infections and whatnot. That's why some of them are longer, the infection spread past the injection site. Actually they're longer bc those long scars are fun to draw and look better than the others but shhh.

I went though a few different colours for the spiked accessories. Originally they were red, but I thought it looked weird without any other visible red. Next I tried to make them blue, to match his hair, but I didn't like that either. Tried purple next, nope. So even though there's already too much black in this fit, I settled on the classics. As for the bike chain bracelet, I just think those things are cool and wanted him to have one. The shirt is like...I guess it's kinda weird haha but I didn't want to reuse the tank top outfit or just put him in a basic t shirt, and he's not really a crop top guy. This was born from a Google image search and I think it's fun. Just realized I could've had a couple scars showing through those sleeve holes ah fuck. Rip. Haha rip cause the shirt is ri--*gets smacked in face with microphone*

This is just quite special to me because I love my boy so much and I want him to be happy, to get to create music that speaks to people and perform it like this. Idk I don't words good but I adore my sweet son.
