Description Here is my long-overdue part of an art trade with ! She's my good buddy and a real sweetheart, so I was very happy to do an art trade with her.

This is her studly stallion, Combat. He's got a bit of an attitude and plenty of self-confidence, which I tried my best to capture. (You can see him in action with the ladies here: [link] .)

This was a lot of fun and definitely something different for me! It's the first time I've ever painted a back-lit character, and I tried my hand at eraser-shading, too. And yes, I even forced myself to paint grass. (Not thrilled with how it turned out, but I suppose I'll never get better if I don't practice.) All in all, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

I like the sun in the background and how he seems to glow, its fascinating and his anatomy is as good as I can see right and realistic no problem hun thanks for faving too!

wow, what a great drawing! i just loved the horse's pose, i think you succeeded very well <3

the shading composition is very interesting, i loooove scened where the sun is right behind the character, it brings a whole new atmosphere
and the grass is great too, even if it's a simple background, it's very beautiful <333

I'm so glad you like the shading! I've never done lighting like that before, so it was a lot of trial-and-error (and guesswork!) Glad to hear my grass wasn't a total fail, too!

n'aaaw, i'm so glad they mean a lot to you, your comments mean a lot for me aswell, your support gives me strenght to keep on drawing <3
i know right? it feels so hard at the beginning! but it is also the most important step, not to be afraid to fail, because you still have a chance to win epically
specially when it comes to a drawing... plus, experimenting different techniques is the best thing for any artist no matter if he is a professional or a beginner!

Aww, college was lots of fun! I bet you'll really like it! It was a super-busy time for me, but I really learned a lot. Are you going to go into something art related?

Haha, I'll enjoy winter better when we clear out some space so my car can fit into the garage! (I get tired of cleaning frost and ice off of my windshield every morning. )

it sure will be! i can't barely wait, and still waiting for results of other colleges i've applied to
yes yes! i'm going for design, graphic design, etc anything art related i'm in! <3

visual arts aswell, but unfortunately i don't have this couse in my city, so i had to apply to colleges in other cities... but that's okay, it's always a nice and interesting experience to study abroad

i understand you, even though i never had such experience before... yet, it seems pretty tiring ): hope you can manage it well

Ooh, that's exciting! Good luck with your applications! I didn't study art in college, but I wish I'd taken some classes. (I went into creative writing instead.) If we can find some money, I'd definitely like to go back and take some refresher courses. (I don't mind being self-taught, but I think some professional classes would be really helpful AND really fun! )

I hope you get into all the schools you want to so you can pick the very best one for your studies!

thanks so much! i won't be worried about them for a considerable time (a couple of weeks, maybe) so i'm pretty relaxed
me neither! i love being self taught and such thus i'm going to art colleges more to study it, to improve another things... i seriously have mercy of those people (some of them i even know) that can learn how to draw in college, because that just sounds a lot wrong... it's something we have to be born with no matter if we discover it when we are 2 years old or 60

I love the shading and the light effect! You pulled it off really well! Personally I think the grass looks great I hate painting it I love his expression too All in all, great piece!

Y really like it, the idea is cool and the character is great. I think it could have even more contrast (Well in fact, looks like you took some licences with the shading xD), but the colouring is cool, and great job with the grass!
