Description Taiwan Railways CT240 is an overheated built by ALCO-Rogers between 1912 and 1913. The Taiwan Governor-General Railways purchased four Pacific type locomotives from the American Locomotive Company (Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works) for the Imperial Taiwan Government Railway. This locomotive usually pulls passenger and is one of the fastest passenger locomotives in Taiwan. On its tender, its sides are written with "IMPERIAL TAIWAN RAILWAY". CT240 and JNR 8900 are the same locomotive. To compare CT240 with DT560, they are both superheated locomotives.

When it arrived in Taiwan, 120 class and 110 class (JGR 8550) locomotives are to be compared, both of these two American-builts have retired earlier. When the four cars arrived at the station, they were given a special front for the first line of the North High Express train. They were all deployed in the Taipei Organizer in the early years as the starting point for the express train. They were gradually distributed to Taipei, Hsinchu, Changhua, and Chiayi. The Imperial Taiwan Government Railway classified as 200.

After Taiwan was liberated, these four 200 class locos were reclassified as Taiwan Railways CT240. CT240 has increased their efforts on the railway. Today non have been preserved. JNR 8900s aren't preserved anymore.
